‘Star Wars: The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel’ – Chapter 14 (Part 3)

Well, Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. day everyone.  Although, you would think that today is Barrack Obama day by looking at the news.  I have to say that I’m getting sick and tired of the coverage of the innauguration.  I feel that the same press that shoved this president down our throat is going to do nothing but shove him down our throad over the course of the next four years.  All we can do is pray for the man and hope he has the ability to lead us in the right directions for this country.  That’s what I know I’ll be doing for the next four years, praying.  I was really dissapointed in the missed opportunity to cover Martin Luther King, Jr. which I feel was a lost moment today.  The only channel I found anything on Martin Luther King was the history channel.  It’s a shame really.  What has me even more ticked off is how we’re exploiting this presidency.  My local gas station has Barrack Obama t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and even (get this) innauguration playing cards.  Tell me that some of this money isn’t making it back to Obama himself.  If it isn’t, then where IS it going?  Alright, enough about my political discussion, let’s talk about my day.  I got up around nine o’clock this morning and watched “Dr. Phil” which was, of course, about Barrack Obama’s innauguration.  I got done watching that and went downstairs and watched a special on the History Channel on Martin Luther King while I updated my blog for a little bit.  I then searched the house for a set of clips that my wife got yesterday at Wal Mart and came up short.  The kids even tried to help me, but we couldn’t find them to save our souls, so I had to abandon by first job for the morning and go to my second.  I started working on the show notes for the next episode of “The Jedi Council Speaks”.  Believe it or not, I will be recording for that in the very near future.  When I got done watching the Martin Luther King special, I watched the end of “Billy Madison” and then went upstairs and ate lunch with the kids.  They played some board games while I went downstairs to work on more show notes before Heather got home at one o’clock.  When she got home, she found me the clips (on a shelf in the kitchen, sure, where I would look {note the sarcasm!}) and came downstairs and watched “Bring It On, All Or Nothing” while I worked on my guantlets for my costume.  That took up most of my afternoon.  I got done with that and it was time for dinner.  We had soup in homemade bread bowls and that was an awesome and filling dinner!  I got done with that and continued my work on my notes for the show and took breaks and then I stopped when it came to eight o’clock.  That’s when I took the time to watch “Big Bang Theory”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “24”, and “CSI Miami” and then went to bed.

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 3 of Chapter 14 of “Star Wars:  The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel” by Steven Barnes…..

Chapter 14 (Part 3):  They were escorted to a free-flying platform when Barrister Snoil asked why there are so few buildings on the surface of the planet.  They answered explaining that in older times the caves were easy to exploit as prison space, and now, thanks to some plagues, they had the ability to just take them over.  As their car, followed by their luggage car, moved through the tunnels; Obi-Wan noted the thousands of cultural influences that were being displayed.  They approached a large building which Obi-Wan didn’t even think was a building.  They referred to it as The Grand ChikatLik and said it was the first building built for the prison and has since served as their finest hotel.  Obi-Wan really began to be impressed about how the old caves had turned into modern buildings.  Their cart moved into a lava tube that brought themt o the lobby of the hotel that looked very cavernous.  A silver protocol droid stepped forward and greeted them, and Snil commented that it will be nice to be in a room.  Two X’Ting attendants appeared with their luggage and were instructed to take their guests to the best facilities in the hotel.  As they moved toward one of the turbo lifts, Obi-Wan noted one of the nametag on one of the X’Tings read “FIZZIK”.  They took a turbolift to their room where the protocol droid said he hoped these accomodations would be adequate.  He said they were fine and that they could entertain themselves before the Regent returns.  The protocol droid left along with the two X’Tings.  Snoil asked what room he should take and Obi-Wan instructed him to take the one with the better view.  The astromech scanned the room and beeped with an all clear sound.  Obi-Wan said the room was free of electronic eavesdropping equipment.  Snoil said that some of this spying made him uncomfortable.  Obi-Wan told him not to worry and to do his job.  He instructed Snoil to go to court and Snoil asked what if their entreaties are ignored and Obi-Wan said that complicates things.
