‘Star Wars: The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel’ – Chapter 14 (Part 2)

Well, it’s Sunday and it started out as a bad day and it ended off okay.  We got up around eight o’clock this morning and got ready for a nine-thirty church service.  Heather and I took showers and got in our Sunday finest while the kids did the same.  Then I looked outside and the kids failed to tell us that there was about two inches of snow on the ground.  As Austin put it, “If we tell you then we have to shovel it.  Couldn’t you just drive through it?”  Well, we had to take extra time out of our already busy morning and shovel the driveway!  We got done with that and we were already running late for church.  We drove to church on roads that were not that great to begin with and once we get into church, my numpty son then decides to tell us that he forgot his church shoes!  So, I went home with Tara while Austin and Heather practiced with the choir and Ruth stayed behind to help certain individuals find our sanctuary.  So, Tara and I headed home, got Austin’s shoes and came back.  We got back and the individuals in question texted my wife and let her know they were running late.  So, we went upstairs and started the church service.  The individuals in question joined us about half way in.  We had a great service, one worthy of the glory of God and the sermon was wonderful as Pastor Dan showed some of his personal side of his life.  We got done with church and came home with certain individuals and looked at the electrical in our house.  Well, it perplexed a certain individual and after looking at it for quite some time, this individual wasn’t sure what was going on with the electrical in our house.  Well, after frustration we decided to leave and go sledding with the kids.  We had a GREAT time sledding with the kids in Chenango Valley State Park.  We joined our church family and just had a blast!  It was lots of fun and I have to say it was nice to escape life for a while.  We got back from sledding for a little over two hours (we would’ve sled more, but Tara had to go potty and there were no toilets working in the park) and looked at the electrical in our room again.   It was still perplexing till the very end.  We figure the main line is not down in the basement like it should be, but is up in the ceiling.  That should NEVER have passed inspection when the inspector inspected our house.  So, we really couldn’t fix the problem today.  Not enough time!  So, the certain individual in question said they would come back next Saturday to help solve our electrical problems.  We got done looking at all of that and ate dinner that my wife made of fried chicken, cheddar scalloped potatoes, and peas.  It was good dinner and the individuals in question left and went home.  I then switched to watching football.  I have to say that I am going to enjoy this year’s Superbowl!  I love the Cardinals because they have the often considered underdog Kurt Warner.  I’ve always been a fan of Kurt Warner’s ever since he was with the Rams and I’m glad he is going to the Superbowl agin.  On the other side are the Steelers who I really have come to respect over the years.  I like their quarterback, Ben Rothlisberger, and I like their defense.  I’m actually not sure who to cheer for or predict will win.  Anyway, we got done watching that and Heather joined me and we watched “Big Love” and then went to bed.

Okay, let’s talk about Part 2 of Chapter 14 of “Star Wars:  The Cestus Deception, A Clone Wars Novel” by Steven Barnes…..

Chapter 14 (Part 2):  They lowered the ship doen to a central landing platform near a large living complex.  As the ship landed, Obi-Wan noticed guards standing at attention and Xutoo cut the engines so as not to injure them.  Snoil was impressed with the presence of the honor guard.  Obi-Wan said that interactions with Cestus from Coruscant must be this rare, and Snoil said to expect odd social interactions to come.  Obi-Wan thought to himself that Snoil may be right and today he may have to become an ambassador.  The guards were Kiffer and snapped to attention as the ramp lowered.  A guard welcomed Master Kenobi to ChikatLik and told the Jedi that the Regent is away on business and will meet with them tomorrow.  Obi-Wan nodded and a droid band played a melody as they descended down the ramp, and when they got to the bottom, the band changed to “All Stars Burn As One”, The Republic National Anthem.  They got to the bottom of the platform and one of the Kiffer guards welcomed them to Cestus.  Obi-Wan thanked him and said that he hopes that not only can they complete their business in a timely manner, but that they can enjoythe beauty of their planet……
