‘Star Wars: Shatterpoint, A Clone Wars Novel’ – Chapter 16 (Part 6)

Friday and the end of the week!  It’s hard to believe.  I got through this week and I may actually be able to have a semi-restful weekend.  I got up this morning and got myself going for the day.  The kids got up and seemed to be in a good mood for the day today.  Tara was hard to get motivated to get moving this morning, but I’m starting to learn her quirks quite honestly.  I got out the door on time and was able to get to school a little bit early to try and test out some concepts I had.  Most of them worked and I was ready for the day.  It was nice to be able to rest a minute with a cup of tea this morning and reflect on what has been done.  It was nice to be able to relax, even if for only a short while.  Work wasn’t too bad, and my eighth grade classes are really getting into the whole video project idea and I think it’s possible that we may see some pretty cool videos for this year.  I got done with school and thought this would be a nice night to just go home relax, play a little bit of “The Force Unleashed” and blog and unwind a little.  Well, my wife had other plans in mind.  Instead we had to go racing around for things that we need.  I got out of work and got into the house and Heather asked me to change immediately so we could leave right away, and acted like she had informed me that this was going to happen, even when she didn’t.  We got on the road and I told her we needed to stop at “Maines” for raffle tickets, so she agreed and we stopped.  Then we headed over to “Jackson Hewitt” because evidently our mortgage company wanted to see a copy of our tax form from last year.  I’m still not sure why.  Well, I got into “Jackson Hewitt” and they had a guy in there that hadn’t done his taxes yet, from LAST year!   So, he owed $10,000 and was going through every receipt he could find to try and claim on his taxes.  After waiting for about a half an hour, the guy finally talked to me and got me the paperwork.  We left there and tried to get to “Grandmother’s Thimble” in time, but Heather had forgotten her “Price Chopper Club” card and couldn’t cash her paycheck.  So, we had to drive all the way from Endicott all the way back home and then to Johnson City just to get her check cashed.  By that point, “Grandmother’s Thimble” had closed.  So we went to “Joann’s Fabrics”.  There, we found some things Heather needed and then we found the pattern and some new material for my Jedi costume again.  We’re redoing the outfit because the tunic has holes and I wanted to make an undertunic.  The undertunic material is cool, but it was expensive and they told Heather that the material was going on sale on Sunday.  So, she decided to wait until Sunday to go and get that material.  But, the pattern that we needed was out at “Joann’s”.  So, we headed to Wal Mart, got some minor things, and managed to find the pattern there.  We got done and got home and it was about ten o’clock and my night was shot!   I blogged for a little while and then went to bed.  I hoped to get so much more accomplished tomorrow!

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 6 of Chapter 16 of “Star Wars:  Shatterpoint, A Clone Wars Novel” by Matthew Woodring Stover…..

Chapter 16 (Part 6):  They ran down the passageway as their stunned ears recoverd.  They came to a cove of intersections and Mace said it will have to do.  Nick asked for what end then asked Mace why he was even carrying around the subspace unit.  Mace set down the unit and used The Force to unscrew the screws to the access panel and removed it.  He inspected the leads on the inside and pulled out his lightsaber.  He pulled out the powercell and inserted it between the leads on the panel and the comm unit ready lights turned on.  Mace had Nick hold the energy cell while he called the “Halleck” on emergency channel.  He called them identifying himself as General Windu using initiation code oh six one five.  They responsed one nine, and Mace verified seven, seven.  The messages were a little broken.  Mace asked Captain Trent for his current status.  But the man on the otehr end identified himself as Commander Urhal and he informed Mace that the Captain was seriously wounded and they were under heavy DSF attack.  Nick asked wha that meant and Mace explained that it meant Droid Star Fighter.  He then asked the Commander if they can hold.  The Commander said negative and explained they had sustained heavy damage.  Among all the static, Mace was able to deduce that an unknown number of Trade Federation droid starfighters had been floating, deactivated, just outside this system.  Something about the lander triggered them as they only attacked shortly after the lander left.  They lost the lander and became overwhelmed themselves.  Mace’s rescue ship was now fighting for it’s very own life.
