‘Star Wars: Shatterpoint, A Clone Wars Novel’ – Chapter 7 (Part 6)

Sunday.  We had plans on going to church this morning, but the alarm did not go off because we lost power briefly last night.  Well, so much for that concept.  I have to say that Heather and I weren’t quite sure what to do with ourselves considering our children were not at home.  It was eerily quiet around the house.  We got out of bed late at about ten o’clock this morning and got going for our day.  By the time we got going, it was time to head out for our meeting at the Johnson City Dunkin Donuts for our  Binghamton FanForce meeting.

The meeting went well.  There were some things that were a little tense, but I worry a little that for the second meeting in a row, it seems like there were only about three to four members there.  I know others have a life and all outside this group, but I’m beginning to wonder if we should start having meetings at another time or at another place.  But, the meeting went well and we got going after the meeting.  Heather wanted to go over to Barnes and Nobles, Wal Mart, and Joanne’s Fabrics to get some things.  We no more than got done with this than it was time for dinner, so we decided to stop at Moe’s on our way home.  We got done at Moe’s and then headed home and she started sewing in her room and I installed my new T-Visor in my bucket and continued to work on my splodies for Scur Falco.  It was a busy day with much that got accomplished, although it probably doesn’t seem that way.

Okay, so it was a slow day, but let’s talk about Part 6 of Chapter 7 of “Star Wars:  Shatterpoint, A Clone Wars Novel” by Matthew Woodring Stover…..

Chapter 7 (Part 6):  Then Mace began to see the future through The Force.  How he’d rip through one steamcrawler and use the flamethrower to rip apart the others.  He knew they would all die and he would enjoy every minute of it!  As Mace raced to fulfill his destiny, he paused and asked himself what he was doing!  He stopped his jump and manged to go prone on the nearest steamcrawler just under the turret.  He began to realize that all he sae through The Force on this planet was evil and darkness.  Then he felt he heard an echo in his head.  An odd echo, one he heard before.  That’s when Mace realized that akk dogs were now attacking Rankin’s men.  They paced around the outer perimeter before they started to make their way inside, ignoring flamethrowers and blaster fire.  Mace realized that the akk herd was forcing the Balawai into the center of the compound, but they did not injure anyone in the process.  They moved them into what Mace sensed as a slaughter pen and that’s when Mace looked up and realized that a Korun was standing above the bunker.  This Korun commanded power through The Force and he was a strapping man with a shaved head.  He had shields strapped to each arm that glistened even in the dark.  Then the akk dogs and the man on the bunker howled at the stars.  Mace sensed this and then realized that the rage he was sensing wasn’t just his.  This man had a power through The Force.  That’s when Mace realized that the Balawai had been herded here and the man who wanted to kill them all was Lor Pelek Kar Vastor.  Suddenly, over the akk dogs, lept six Korunnai that were dressed like Kar Vastor and snarling.  the Balawai tried shooting at them, but each shot was deflected by the shields they carried.  Tha’t when Mace realized they could only have learned from a Jedi.  And there was only one Jedi that could have taught them, Depa.  Then Lor Pelek dropped his arms and the killing began.
