‘Star Wars: Outbound Flight’ – Chapter 17 (Part 1)

Sunday.  I wanted to go to church today and we would have had the ability to go to church, except Austin needed to be at his football practice at ten-thirty this morning for an eleven o’clock game.  So, we got the kids up and got them ready to go for the day.  We sat down and ate some breakfast with my parents (donuts they brought) and then we all got ready to go to the game.  Austin was having problems getting into his pads (as often happens), so I had to help him while Heather helped the girls get their cheerleading outfits on and did their hair.

We got to the practice field a little early and waited on the coach and dad and I sat around and watched the game just before our game and talked with a few of the parents.  Then my son and his team were on.  As always, they played with heart and I have to say I’m a little more proud of my son as he only turned his back on the line twice today.  He still scares me when he does it, but he only managed to do it twice today, which is a marked improvement for him.  As always, my little girls were looking pretty gosh darned cute cheering in their outfits and I have to say they are starting to sound pretty good doing their cheers as well.  We got done with the game and grandma and papa said goodbye to the kids at the field and they went on their way back to Rochester.

We decided to head to Wal Mart to get a few things and then headed home.  We got home, ate a late lunch or early dinner (however you want to call it) and then we all crashed!  And by crashed, I mean we ALL crashed, including the kids.  For the first time in a long time, you couldn’t hear a pin drop in my house.  It was actually kind of nice, but eerie at the same time.  We all got up around six o’clock and then got things ready for the next day of school.  The only thing that had me excited about the next week was the fact that there’s a strong possibility that Heather may have a second vehicle this week, which means no more waking up early.  If that’s something to look forward to.
Okay, so let’s talk about Part 1 of Chapter 17 of “Star Wars:  Outbound Flight” by Timothy Zahn…..

Chapter 17 (Part 1):  Thrawn and Car’das now marched toward the bridge of the battleship with battle droids flanking them on either side.  On the bridge, droids milled about their usual business as a Niemoidian and human stood up as Thrawn entered the room, Thrawn introduced himself to commander Stratis, but Kav quickly let Thrawn know that he was in charge and accused Thrawn of starting an act of war.  Stratis told Kav to calm down but Kav threatened Stratis and ordered in droidekas.  Thrawn assured Stratis they were in no danger and then ordered Kav to send them away.  Kav ordered them to stand down as Thrawn again was asked what the intentions of this task force was.  Kav reminded him there was no task force, but Thrawn quipped back saying that was by his own doing.  Thrawn said he only wanted an answer as Stratis asked Thrawn who his human companion was.  Car’das said he was a visitor, but Thrawn cut him off saying that Car’das was now an interpretor and a prisoner.  Car’das looked surprised and Thrawn said it’s evidence that all of this was a hoax and this is an invasion force.  Both Stratis and Car’das protested thsi concept and Thrawn dared them to convince him.  Stratis gestured to an office room off the bridge…..
