‘Star Wars: Outbound Flight’ – Chapter 15 (Part 5)

Saturday.  You would think that I would be able to sleep in.  Well, not today.  Heck, not this month!  We got up early this morning because the kids needed to be at the field at Johnson City at about eight-thirty this morning for their opening day ceremonies for Pee Wee football.  They announced the kids’ names for both the cheerleaders and football players and they ran acrossed the field and made a big deal about it.  The kids loved it of course.  But, I wasn’t able to see it, however.  Why?  Marching Band.  I had rehearsal that started at nine this morning, so I left Heather and Austin and the girls at the football field and went over to Vestal for marching band rehearsal.  That’s when I found out that the director had decided to have a marching band rehearsal from nine until two in the afternoon without a lunch break.  I knew this would not be a good idea and I have to say that we pretty much lost the students after noon because they were so exhausted and I believe hungry by that point.  The last hour ended up almost being a waste and I think we could have gone from nine to one, but the director wanted a solid five hour rehearsal.  Needless to say, after rehearsal, he received an earful from some of the parents.  They kept coming to me to talk about it, and I simply redirected them to the director.

I got done with practice and headed home and joined Heather and the kids at home.  We had a ton of work to get done around the house and things still looked like a cyclone had hit the place.  That’s when Heather told me that Austin’s first game was tomorrow and it would be during church time, so we would be unable to go to church.  That’s the only thing I don’t like about this football league.  Austin’s game times are either 11:00 or 2:30 and the former time is right in the middle of our church service because, of course, coach wants them there early to practice and get ready for the game.  I don’t blame the coach, but it does make it impossible to go to church.  We got done with some things around the house, ate some dinner, watched a family movie and we all went to bed.  Tomorrow was going to be another long day!
Okay, so let’s talk about Part 5 of Chapter 15 of “Star Wars:  Outbound Flight” by Timothy Zahn…..

Chapter 15 (Part 5):  C’Baoth said that he’s discussed the meld with his fellow Jedi onboard and agreed that they all need to parctice doing it before they leave Republic space.  C’Baoth said that with Jedi running the weapons on all six Dreadnaughts, Outbound Flight would be virtually indestructible.  Obi-Wan said that he didn’t think this is the Jedi way.  C’baoth explained to Obi-Wan that this will become the Jedi way as he has foreseen a threat to the Republic.  Obi-Wan asked C’Baoth if he told Yoda about his foresight, and C’Baoth answered in disdain about how Yoda keeps his own counsel.  He told Obi-Wan that this is why he was so insistant on getting Outbound Flight going as he sees dark times ahead.  Obi-Wan reminds C’Baoth that the failure is still very uncertain.  C’Baoth agreed tand said that Outbound Flight is his way of controlling the future.  Suddenly, C’Baoth was cut-off by his comlink and Obi-Wan couldn’t hear what was said on it, but there was urgency behind the voice.  He told the voice on the other end to keep them both there.  Hed punched up the tutorial for Anakin and told Kenobi to stay with his padawan and left the room.  Obi-Wan told Anakin to start, then left the room following C’Baoth anyway…..
