‘Star Wars: Outbound Flight’ – Chapter 15 (Part 3)

Well, as I have been doing, I got up to take Heather to work by five-thirty this morning.  I’m ready to shoot my wife because she wants to have coherent discussions with me at this time in the morning.  I’m not in the mood and you would think she’s been awake for hours and hours.  I was not a happy camper when she started throwing at me all these things I needed to remember for the kids in two hours.  You know, these are things she could have been telling me yesterday or some other time, but no, she chose to tell me these things at five in the morning and expected me to remember it by ten to eight and remember all that had to get done.  I was not happy.

I came home and crashed and then got up and got the kids up and got ready for school.  I learned this morning that I need to find some way to get caffeine into myself in the morning if I have any hope of making it through the school day.  The kids were pretty excited about the first day of school and for some reason I was not looking forward to it.  I don’t know why, maybe because my eighth grade classes exhausted me so much from last year.  I reminded myself that this class had moved onto high school and that my classes shouldn’t be as energetic.  I would be okay with energy if it were positive energy, but I never got that out of my eighth graders from last year.  Most of the energy was negative and it made teaching those kids very hard.

I got to school around eight o’clock or so and got myself set for the day.  I got things out and got myself ready for the day and the kids started to stroll into the school around quarter after eight.  My kids seemed pretty out of it as well, so thank goodness for “first days” of school.  They are apparently trying to get used to the schedule change as well, which gives me the chance to keep up with them.  Overall, my classes didn’t seem so bad.  The kids seemed to be well behaved and many of them seem like they want to try and work hard in my class.  It seems okay now, but I give them about a week and we’ll have to see where they are at that point.  All in all, however, I think this is going to be a good year.

I got done with school and came home and crashed!  I couldn’t believe how tired I was.  I was even afraid of driving home on my own because I was afraid I was going to fall asleep at the wheel while driving.  I got home safe and sound and Heather let me take a forty-five minute nap and then I talked to Austin, Ruth, and Tara about how their day went at school.  They all seemed pretty enthusiastic about their school year and Ruth couldn’t wait to get started on the rest of the year.  She also told me that she would have to choose her band instrument this year and she seemed pretty excited about that.  We then ate dinner and then went downstairs and hung out for a while before the kids went to bed and then Heather and I went to bed.  It was a long day and it seemed like long days and long weekends were still to come.
Okay, so let’s talk about Part 3 of Chapter 15 of “Star Wars:  Outbound Flight” by Timothy Zahn…..

Chapter 15 (Part 3):  We go to the bridge of the Trade Federation Battleship “Darkvenge”.  ViceLord Kav let Doriana know they had arrived.  Doriana was a little on edge as the Trade Federation crews had been mostly replaced by closed hipped robots to keep the military movements secretive.  Kav said he had nothing to worry about and he knew this would not affect their ability to attack as that would be carried out by droid starfighters.  He looked out the observation deck and noticed the fleet getting into typical Neimoidian defensive/offensive formations using Trade Federation Battleships, and escort ships; along with Techno Union Hardcell Class transports.  Assuming Kav’s navigators brought them to the correct spot, there should be no reason why they don’t seize the day.  Kav confirmed their arrival, assuming that Doriana’s coordinates are correct.  Doriana said that if Outbound Flight is on time, it should arrive in eleven days.  Doriana said they should conduct their training exercises, but Kave insisted they were already ready.  Kav said they have enough firepower to destroy Outbound Flight three times over.  Doriana insisted they still conduct training exercises.  Kav warned that the cost would be put on him and Doriana said they would launch starfighters in ten minutes…..
