‘Star Wars: Outbound Flight’ – Chapter 5 (Part 3)

Okay, it’s Saturday and our Star Wars geek fest is continuing.  I got up around ten o’clock or so and got ready for the day.  Well, as ready as I can be.  I took a shower and joined Jeff, Charles, and Karen for a nice big breakfast prepared by my wife.  The big food for this meal was the coffee.  Charles got concerned when he didn’t see a coffee pot out in the open.  But, we got the brew going and it got us all going for the day.  Heather had a great breakfast that included eggs, waffles, sausage, orange juice, and corned beef hash, a great way to start the day!!  We waited while others got themselves ready and Charles and Jeff had decided they didn’t want to get a shower, so we simply left the house and went shopping.

We hit the stores and had a bunch of fun everywhere we went.  First we went to Toys R’Us.  Unfortunately, they didn’t have the Ralph Macquarrie Boba Fett, but they did have a bunch of Wave 3 figures from the 30th Anniversary line.  The one I saw that I had to get was the “Biggs” figure in his X-Wing costume.  Then I managed to find the “V-Wing” in the Titanium Series for my basement.  We also played around with some ideas for costumes.  We want to make a communications droid from the Death Star and figured we could just rebuild an RC Car to pull that off.  We also looked at some hovering helicopter type vehicles to use as potential probes that we could put up in the air for our Mando costumes.  We got done at Toys R’ Us and did a quick jaunt over to the mall to see if we could find the Boba Fett figure at Kay-Bee’s.  Of course, they had almost nothing at Kay’Bee’s.  So, we decided to move along.

The next stop was Target and we found very little there.  We did manage to find a Hailfire Droid, and I was very tempted to buy it.  But, I held back (I probably shouldn’t have) and decided to save my money for some miniatures for later in the day.  I thought we may play miniatures at my house.  I don’t know what I was thinking, because it never happened.  I guess I can commonly dream.  Anyway, we got done at Target and Charlie wanted to go to A.C. Moore’s.  No problem.  Like I ever hate going to that store!!  We got at that store and Charlie managed to come up with some ideas for a fake bomb for our Mando costumes.  So much so, that if Charlie pulls it off, I think it may look too real and get us into trouble.  Let’s just say that we’re all getting into our roles within our Mando Commando unit.  Maybe too much so.  Nahh!!!!  Anyway, we decided to run to Wal Mart and see what we could find there.  Sure enough, we got to Wal Mart and found a bunch of things that Charlie needed.  But, as always, my local Wal Mart had NOTHING for Star Wars toys.  I’m starting to get depressed about this as everyone else online seems to be bragging about their local Wal Mart and mine can’t seem to be getting rid of their Star Wars toys.  Or they have case upon case of Stormtrooper Unleashed packs and NO Wave 3 of 30th Anniversary figures.

We got done at Wal Mart and then headed down to “Family Hobby and Crafts” in Vestal.  Charlie was excited because one of his Warhammer figures that he painted years ago is still being highlighted at the cash register there.  I bought some Star Wars miniatures and we left.  On our way home, we realized it was going on three o’clock, so I decided to call Heather.  At this point we found out that Ian had stopped in and had to go to the wedding but would be back and Karen was already at the house spending some time with my wife.  Heather asked me to stop at Wal Mart and get some batteries for the kids’ squirt guns.  So, we made another quick stop to Wal Mart and headed right home afterwards.  Once we got home we decided that if we were EVER going to finally get through the movies, we’d better start watching the movies again.  So, while Charlie worked on his project of a fake pack of plastic explosives and I worked on some other projects like hanging my new Star Wars collectibles and what-not, we managed to watch “Star Wars:  Attack of the Clones”.  As we watched the movie, Heather made dinner and we all ate.  As the Clone Wars cartoons came on, we got a little distracted by other things and managed to talk quite a bit, but also watched the episodes.  Heather continued to work on her Padme dress and I have to say that it is going to look amazing once it’s put together and I really hope she decides to join us for events dressed in her dress.  All I need to do now is convert the kids and the circle will be complete (muhahaha!!!).  Anyway, we managed to stay up late enough to watch “Star Wars:  Revenge of the Sith” and then decided to go to bed around one in the morning on Sunday and decided we would wake up at nine tomorrow morning to continue watching the movies and finish up by tomorrow night.  We all agreed we would meet at my house at noon and take pictures in our costumes around one o’clock or so with the whole group.  Jeff ended up having to leave early tonight and we didn’t hear anything from him, so we’re hoping he’ll be here tomorrow at some point in time so we can get him into our pictures.  Well, I’m tired, it’s been a long day, and tomorrow brings on all the fun!!!

Well, let’s continue to geek out on Star Wars and talk about Part 3 of Chapter 5 of “Star Wars:  Outbound Flight” by Timothy Zahn…..

Chapter 5 (Part 3):  They all stepped into a cantina that didn’t look great, but had some good smells in the air.  As Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Lorana sat down; a WA-Z droid asked them what they want to eat.  They all ordered odd foreign alien food and Obi-Wan observed what Lorana looked like.  He noticed she looked like a wonderful Jedi, but that there was something odd about her as well.  Obi-Wan sais he’s never met a padawan of C’Baoth’s before and asked Lorana what he’s like.  Lorana diplomatically  answered saying that she can only hope to have a deep understanding  of The Force as he does.  Obi-Wan saysshe’ll be as good as she can be and Lorana says that there is a line of fullfillment that can be reached and Obi-Wan says that he does not believe that line exists.  Then a robot showed up with their drinks.  Obi-Wan observed his surroundings and looked at all the people in the bar, but one human by the bar caught his eye and he asked Lorana if she’s seen him before.  She said she saw hime at negotiations yesterday.  Obi-Wan identified him as Jerv Riske, former bounty hunter, and current enforcer for the Corporate Alliance…..
