‘Star Wars:Rogue Planet’ – Chapter 39

Well, Heather and I had every intention of going to church this morning.  I had the alarm set, I tried to get to bed early (which is 1 a.m. when Heather is working till 2 a.m.), and I told the kids to get dressed in church clothes when they wake up.  Well, the alarm went off and I hit it.  Evidently too hard because I knocked it off the side table and it came unplugged.  I was still exhausted and kept sleeping, and the kids slept in for the first time in a long time.  I mean slept in until 10:30 a.m.  So, all in all, good intentions, but lack of execution on all of our parts.  So, we didn’t go to church today.  That was okay, because it gave us some time to spend together as a family.  And we had fun with our new pets in the house, fleas!!  We have been having a “small” problem in our house for about a week and today it came to a head.  We decided to “bomb” the house because of the amount of fleas in it.  Clifford got a serious bath outside with flea soap and we bombed every room in the house.  Basically, $100 later, we hope the house is fairly flea free.  I’m realisitic and realize that we will need to battle this for a little bit, but we’re hoping we got a head start on the war with them.  We got done around 1 p.m. doing all of this and Austin and I came in and went downstairs and watched the Nascar race.  When we got done, Heather insisted on watching “Pirates of the Carribean” which I just watched last night, but can’t argue with watching again.  So, we watched the movie and then ate some dinner together as a family.  The kids watched a movie upstairs, Heather went to work until 2 a.m. again and I came downstairs and watched our usual Sunday night shows including “Deadwood” and “Lucky Louie”.  Then I watched some “South Park” episodes and went to bed.

Okay, time to talk about Chapter 39 of “Star Wars:Rogue Planet” by Greg Bears…..

Chapter 39:  Obi-Wan felt ill and noticed a distince twist in The Force.  Obi-Wan wondered if that was why he was feeling a connection to Qui-Gon.  Vagno and the others stirred the ashes.  Other fires were being made in the pits, the big ones they had referred to before.  Vagno put on fire retardent clothing and scooped out a disk from the pit.  Fifteen disks in all were loaded into the Carapods by the team.  Anakin asked his master if they were still alive.  At that moment Obi-Wan heard Qui-Gon’s voice again but faught off the voice.  When he got himself together, he found Anakin in a discussion about his adventure.  Obi-Wan believes that danger and adventure are the same.  Anakin said that Qui-Gon said that “adventure is growth”.  Anakin asks Obi-Wan if he hears Qui-Gon’s voice and Obi-Wan says it’s not Qui-Gon’s voice.  He also tells Anakin that masters do not return from the dead.  They got to the end of their journey and Vagno reminded them that they would soon be forced to forget about all of this.
