‘Star Wars:Rogue Planet’ – Chapter 10

Okay, it’s Saturday and I had a lot of things planned to do outside.  I didn’t even get one of them done and for a good reason.  It was “hotter than a snake’s ass in a wagon rut!” (quote from “Good Morning Vietnam”) here in New York today.  I wanted to get the dirt moved for the retaining wall next to the driveway today, but it was so hot and humid that I had to work for twenty minutes and stop for another twenty.  Three hours later, I was exhausted from the work.  This morning Heather and I headed over to the park and signed Austin up for football next fall.  It was actually cheaper than we thought it would be and they’re providing all the equipment except for the cup and cleats.  No problem, we can grab those before next fall.  We also stayed around for a while and let the girls do a pony ride and Austin did a football throwing contest (which he actually did pretty well in) and then we came home.  I worked all afternoon long outside on the dirt and then came in to watch the U.S. Open on HDTV.  Yeah, I know my brother is probably completely jealous by now.  Anyway, I then got a call from Jeff Roney and he interviewed me for the show and I had a really great time!  It was fun and I think we both had a good experience in the process.  Robbie had to bow out of the interview, so it was just Jeff and I.

Then came the shocking news of the day.  Heather called me outside as I was finishing getting dinner ready and she said her car sounded wrong and she found out why.  We looked under the car and found out that the pipe that connected the engine to the cadalidic converter has rusted so that the pipe is now hanging down on the Escort.  That has a drastic impact on our week.  We can’t go to Rochester with a car that has a pipe hanging down and now muffler and cadalidic converter hooked up.  So, suddenly we find our trip to Rochester in jeopardy.  I called my parents to let them know.  I’m a little bummed because I really want a Nick Tahoes garbage plate and I’ve been craving one for a few weeks now and I was really looking forward to seeing Josh and going to Rochester.  It’s not out of the picture yet and Heather is convinced we will get it fixed and be on the road on Friday.  We’ll have to see what happens.  It’s a bummer, but I know that if God intended for this trip to happen, then it will.

The kids watched “Madagascar” on HBO tonight and I took out all of my miniature models and staged a mock seige of Helm’s Deep.  The pics are under my “Helms Deep” tab to the left under my pictures section.  Check it out, I think you may all be fairly impressed.  I realized today that I have some improvements I need to make, but the set is pretty well ready to be painted.

Okay, onto Chapter 10 of “Star Wars:Rogue Planet” by Greg Bears…..

Chapter 10:  Obi-Wan watched as Anakin lay asleep out of exhaustian.  Obi-Wan was at unease about the mission but was unsure why.  He wondered if he was nervous about being by himself with Anakin.  He reflected about how Anakin had dupped hi into believing a protocol droid was a Jedi by fixing it and putting it in the hall with a Jedi cloak on.  He smiled to himself because he could picture Qui-Gon doing the same thing.  But he noticed that Anakin does not exercise any control at all when it comes to his talent and power.  Then Obi-Wan went inot an alert meditative sleep and heard what he thought was Qui-Gon’s voice.  Obi-Wan replied to what he thought he heard, but it lay out in the open air.
