‘Star Wars:Rogue Planet’ – Chapter 3

Well, today was actually a good day and a productive day.  For the first time in as much as a week it actually didn’t rain here in Binghamton.  Woohoo!  It was time to mow the lawn.  So, I mowed the first AND second property.  And let me tell you, the second property was tough!  It was really starting to look like a forest.  I was tempted to go back there with a machete.  But, I did manage to mow the second property.  I don’t know if you would call it mowing.  It was more like mulching for that matter.  Then I helped Heather finish planting some more hasta plants in her hasta garden and then we worked on moving some dirt/mud and rocks to put up a retaining wall next to our driveway to keep the dirt/mud from taking over the driveway.  Man, after all that I was exhausted.

In the meantime, Ruth and Austin helped me by picking up the big sticks on the second property.  This seems like a stupid and mundane task, but trust me, there are a TON of them and it makes in a giant pain in the butt to actually mow that property.  Tara went to a friend’s birthday party and then came home and helped the other two children.  Then they came inside and Tara watched T.V. while the other two spent time in their room.  See, their filling time in their room, because they’re being punished for lying.  I know they’re not happy with me about this, but they need to stop open-faced lieing to Heather and I.

Anyway, we were all tired, so the whole family took a half hour nap this afternoon.  I think it was good for everyone.  I went downstairs just before dinner and played the PS2 some more.  We ate dinner together (meatloaf and hash browns) and then Heather went to work.  I played PS2 for two more hours and the kids worked on dishes from dinner and cleaning their rooms.  Then Tara got to watch “Toy Story 2” (she was the only one not being punished) while I went downstairs, played the PS2 some more, watched “Duece Bigalow:European Gigalo”, got bored with that movie and switched to “Lewis Black:Red, White, and Screwed” on HBO.

Time for a synopsis of Chapter 3 of “Star Wars:Rogue Planet” by Greg Bears…..

Chapter 3:  We start at the Jedi Temple.  It is revealed that many Jedi Masters were away on assignment.  Jedi Master Mace Windu is presiding over the review of Anakin Skywalker.  Obi-Wan stands next to his padawan in the Jedi Chamber.  Mace asks Anakin what his error was and he responds that he brought shame to the Jedi.  Mace says he is wrong, then aks Obi-Wan wha they both did wrong.  He replied that they both want certainty and that Obi-Wan was too focused on Anakin and has not done enough for himselft.  Mace asks Anakin why he was seeking cheap thrills and his response is that he was trying to bary his pain about his mother.  Windu tells him not to fear the pain but use it.  He tells Anakin that he must look inside himself.  Anakin says he can’t because he fears the power he sees within.  Then the door opens to the chamber and in walks Thracia Cho Leem.  Thracia feels they are ganging up on Anakin and scolds them about their lack of knowledge when dealing with human children.  Thracia asks Anakin what he wanted to prove by garbage racing, but Anakin says he’s just trying to figure out who he is.  As they talk about the attempt on Anakin’s life by the Blood Carver, he realizes what he did wrong.  He realized he put the Temple at risk when being approached by the Blood Carver and revealing to him things he shouldn’t have.  Again, Throcia asks Anakin what he needs.  He says he needs a mission.  That’s when Thracia reveals that her padawan, Vergere, hasn’t reported to the Temple in over a year.  She suggests that Obi-Wan and Anakin go to research what is going on.  Mace looked at Anakin and asked him to explain how he go involved in the garbage race.
